Alles, was nötig ist, damit ein Beitrag in meinen Zeitschriften publiziert und in die Bibliothek oder Datenbank gestellt wird, ist bei mir automatisiert. Nur das Peer-Review nicht. Das Peer-Review gehört aber zum Wissenschaffen immer dazu... und für die Wissenschaft werde ich bereits aus öffentlichen Mitteln bezahlt! Diamond OA ermöglicht das Publizieren nach rein wissenschaftlichen Massstäben.

Diamond Open Access ermöglicht es, dass die Beiträge unserer Fachzeitschrift weltweit gelesen und rezipiert werden können. Die academic community, an die sich unsere Zeitschrift richtet, ist international breit gestreut. Nicht alle haben eine institutionelle Anbindung und nicht alle Institutionen haben die nötigen finanziellen Ressourcen, um sich ein kostenpflichtiges Print- oder Digitalabonnement zu leisten. Diamond Open Access ist ein wirksames Mittel gegen solche Hindernisse und ein wichtiger Schritt auf dem Weg zu mehr akademischer Teilhabegerechtigkeit. Dafür sind wir sehr dankbar.

The vast majority of academic research is publicly or charitably funded, and we think this means research should be made publicly available without individual cost barriers. Diamond open access publishing reduces overall publishing costs and keeps research free-at-point-of-use for authors to publish and readers to access. We developed Open Palaeontology to help reshape the publishing sector by making research more accessible. SOAP2 helps us do this by removing technical hurdles and providing an environment of institutional support in the drive towards open access publishing.

For 30 years, the International Journal for Community Currency Research (IJCCR) has been publishing papers and articles in the field of monetary and currency research, an area often overlooked by mainstream economics. Our journal is run by volunteers and serves as a springboard for many emerging authors. Thanks to the Diamond open access option, which is supported by our universities, we are able to support this important and often grassroots-based scientific research on communities and economic development and bring it into the international discourse.

Diamond Open Access is the right choice for all journals. There is simply no reason for profit-driven publishers or, indeed, money, to be involved in the academic publication ecosystem at all. The freedom of Diamond OA allows us to experiment with the format of the publication process, to accelerate the timeline from acceptance to publication, and to decide how many papers to publish without pressure from corporate overlords. Every dollar spent on an Article Process Charge is a dollar not spent on research.

Seit der frühen Neuzeit besteht ein Spannungsverhältnis zwischen der wissenschaftlichen Forschung, die eine optimale Verbreitung ihrer Ergebnisse anstrebt, und den kommerziellen Druckern und Verlagen, die an der maximalen Verwertung ihrer Produkte interessiert sind. Mit Diamond Open Access gewinnt die Wissenschaft die Hoheit über die Publikation ihrer Forschungsergebnisse zurück. Dieses Modell ermöglicht eine ungehinderte Wissenszirkulation, die durch die Profitinteressen der Verlagskonzerne und deren Paywalls häufig eingeschränkt wird.

La Revue suisse des sciences de l’éducation, financée par des fonds publics et destinée à une large communauté scientifique et professionnelle, a adopté le Diamond Open Access dès l’an 2000. Il garantit un accès libre et gratuit aux connaissances produites par les chercheurs, indépendamment de leur institution, de leurs ressources ou de leur langue. Dans un contexte marqué par la diversité, il favorise ainsi une participation élargie à la production et à la diffusion des savoirs, tout en évitant d’engendrer des coûts supplémentaires pour une recherche déjà financée par des fonds publics.

In der Archiv-, Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft wird in der Schweiz wenig publiziert. Deshalb ist es für den MAS in Archival, Library and Information Science (MAS ALIS Unibe-UNIL) entscheidend, dass seine Abschlussarbeiten nicht hinter einer Paywall veralten, sondern die aktuelle Forschung und Diskussion stimulieren. Und deshalb erscheint unser Journal «Informationswissenschaft: Theorie, Methode und Praxis» im Diamond Open Access bei bop.unibe.ch.»

Für uns als Herausgeber:innen der Zeitschrift Beiträge zur Lehrerinnen- und Lehrerbildung ist Diamond Open Access passend, weil Forschung frei zugänglich sein sollte – für Wissenschaft, Ausbildung und Praxis. Weder Autor:innen noch Leser:innen müssen bezahlen. So können Ergebnisse einfacher geteilt, genutzt und weiterentwickelt werden und der Austausch zwischen Forschung und Schule wird gestärkt.
